Robbery of PNG Air Sales office Alotau

PNG Air confirms that an armed robbery took place at its Alotau booking office on Monday 1 August.
PNG Air CEO Muralee Siva said “On Monday morning 3 female PNG Air staff members were held up by two men armed with a home-made pistol and bush knife at our booking office in Alotau. A small amount of cash was taken during the hold up. The 3 staff managed to barricade themselves in an office before being rescued by the police. We are grateful that no one was harmed during this incident and have been heartened by the many messages of support we have received from the local Milne Bay community. PNG Air is providing all necessary support for the affected staff including counselling.”

  1. People, please read Mr Morehari’s media statement carefully before your accuse him of anything else. PPC Morehari did not lie as far as I could discern from his media statement. He dispelled as “hoax” that claim via the social media that there was a hostage situation in Alotau. There was no such thing. He did say there was a robbery and that the staff members had locked themselves in before police went in and “freed” them. Get your facts right before you post damaging comments. Mr Morehari built his career over the last 30 years through hard work and does not stupid comments from stupid people.
