An embarrassing series of event last week when Australian Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull’s people kicked out Papua New Guinean journalists from a press conference at the Bomana War Cemetery in the country’s capital.
No reasons were given for the highly unusual expulsion. A senior Journalist from the Post Courier, said she was told to leave before the press conference could start.
“I got told twice to leave so presser could start…I refused at first,” Gorethy Kenneth said.
The decision also embarrassed the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s PNG Correspondent, Erik Tlozek.
Turnbull is now being accused of dodging questions related to the Manus Asylum center deal, the conduct of Australian staff at the center and his visit just weeks before the PNG elections.
