WE DON’T NEED MONEY OR APOLOGIES FROM POLITICIANS. WE HAVE OUR FAMILY OF 8 MILLION!

This update from Ray N Odias in Port Moresby.

We are a group of ex UPNG friends and with great heartache, we heard about the plight of UPNG students. They stood for our right, freedom and justice, only to be gunned down heartlessly by RCPNG. This is to advice other keyboard warriors and the public in Pom, the students have taken refuge in safe places across the city. Especially students from other Provinces. After receiving our support like cooked dishes and cash, the Morobe students President expressed gratitude. They are living outside like refugees and this is the second night. The Morobean student leader thanked God for protecting them in dangerous times. He thanked God that Morobe has no casualties but they cry with their brothers from other regions who got shot. He said that they were too traumatised by the shootings and unsure if their safety is guaranteed should they go back to UPNG campus. He said they only marched peacefully for what is right only to be treated like criminals. During our presentation of cash and food, another group of parents came with cash an kind. We presented the food to Jubilee Univesity and the Gordons Corner stone Church who has haused them for the past two days. Thanks to AOG Churches for giving UPNG students refuge at such trying times. It was very touching and emotional for us as well as th students. I am sure there are other places where the students have taken refuge. Meanwhile, there is heavy Police presence at the University. This goes out to the public, if we can’t stand in front and fight, let’s support the fighters in anyway we can. Pass the word ‪#‎UPNG4PNG‬ ‪#‎TakeBackPNG‬

Even if they are not in front, We know that their hearts are with us.

When students were arrested by police, our mothers, sisters and brothers who do not have much, came forward and raised K9000 to bail us out of the Wewak police cell.

After we were shot, our mothers and bothers cried for us and came for us. They were unarmed yet they put themselves in front and cried for the violence to stop.

Our boys helped the girls to get to safety. We carried those who were injured to hospital. This is what true Papua New Guinea is about. It is not about the violence, guns and shooting. We are a society that cares for each other.

Even now, more than 20 girls are being cared for by total strangers. Yet, who are strangers in this country? Once we share and care for each other, we become family.

I know there are people visiting the students in hospital. People the students don’t even know. We thank you for your support.

We don’t need the politicians to offer us money.

We don’t need their tears or their apologies.

We have our own to care for us – They are the 8 million people of Papua New Guinea.
